Settling Inn

Everybody made it to Fredericksburg, by dark, through varied on Saturday. We all piled into Auslander German restaurant for beer and German food. The beer was great, but those Germans aren't known for their culinary accomplishments. We did not need to be eating anything considering we started eating about 7:30 am that morning; in our vehicle at least. Sausage balls at 7:30 right outside of Natchez, boudin at Don's Meat Market in Lafayette around 10:00 am, coffee and muffins at Beth's sisters in Sulphur, LA, lunch at Papadeaux's in Beaumont, TX around 1:00 pm, and then snacks (chex mix, chocolate chip cookies, brownies) all the way into Fredericksburg. All that before pedaling a single stroke.

Several ventured out, after dinner, to the wine tasting rooms all up and down Main St. There are at least a dozen of them along Main. So we sampled some of the selections and discussed routes, sitting near the pool, and freezing in the wind.

After much consternation, debating routes, and waiting for several individuals we left out on the Fredericksburg Stonewall loop Sunday morning after 10 am. Beth and I bailed half way through to get back for a lunch trip to Llano to see my brother and his family; good visit, good food (Coopers BBQ). The others completed the loop in the face of a 20mph wind. Nobody has stopped eating. We really need to pace ourselves.

Internet service at the Inn is painfully slow. I hope to get pictures uploaded later tonight. They are mostly pictures of the places we have eaten. Rain forecasted for Monday, so we will probably hit all the wineries. Later.

I keep thinking back to over 25 years ago in high school, when I used to think "boy, I sure wish someone would invent the internet and make an affordable home PC so I could keep track of what Allen Richard is doing." Some of you may point out that the internet was invented well over 25 years ago. You would be called geeks, or Scott Schonefeld, or both. Regardless, good luck Allen and Beth and have a good trip.
